Goldie is the herd’s alpha mare, displaying very wise and benevolent leadership. She has taught us all so much about equine behaviour over the years.

To see her excited in the field is to watch poetry in motion. In a younger life she was competing in affiliated dressage and clocking up the points with her flowing elastic paces and uphill movement. She also has a wonderful jump – big and stylish, but due to the demands of Elaine’s job, Goldie’s competitive career was never furthered, and besides, they both hated travelling! However, Goldie is a lovely hack and occasionally joins the Fife Hunt partnered by Branwen for a great day out with the hounds. She is also our model for demonstrations / teaching of natural horsemanship, showing just how light and responsive it is possible to be.
